Na Chainkua Reindorf’s Venice Biennial Installation | Studio Assistance + Project Management
ABOUT:
It’s not every day you have the opportunity to have hands directly on artwork headed to Venice. In 2021 and 2022 I assisted artist Na Chainkua Reindorf in her studio. What began as mere assistance intricate fiber elements on paintings (stitching, precision cutting etc.) morphed into something much larger as she geared up for the 2022 Venice Biennale. In this rare opportunity, I was able to offer project management support in addition to studio assistance to help execute a large undertaking on a short timeline. I provided hands in complex studio processes (life casting, embroidery, beadwork etc.), alternative perspectives, and organized community workshops. I managed a team of 8 Binghamton University interns and 15 volunteers to complete a massive beaded undertaking on schedule. Collectively, we strung over 2,200 strings of glass beads with precise patterns for a suspended installation.
